sjosten.com is my personal website. I try to collect as little information about visitors as possible. This page explains what is collected, why, and what rights you have.
Who is responsible
The site is run by Bo Sjosten, Stockholm, Sweden, who is responsible (data controller) for the personal data described here. You can reach me through the contact page.
What I collect and why
When you just read the site
Like every web server, the server that runs this site records technical information about each visit: your IP address, the page you asked for, the time, and your browser type. This is used to keep the site running and secure, for example to block attacks and spam. The site is protected by a security plugin (Wordfence) and delivered through Cloudflare, which also processes this technical information to protect the site. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in keeping the site secure. These logs are kept for a limited period and are not used to identify you.
I do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools on this site.
When you email me
If you email me, I receive your email address and whatever you write. I use this only to answer you. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in replying to people who contact me. I keep the email only as long as it is needed, and I never share it or add you to any mailing list.
When you log in
Some content is only for friends and family, who log in to see it. When you log in, WordPress sets cookies that keep you logged in, and records your IP address for security. These cookies are needed for the login to work.
Cookies
The site only uses cookies that are needed for it to work:
- Login cookies (WordPress), set only if you log in, to keep you logged in.
- Security cookies (Cloudflare and Wordfence), used to tell real visitors from bots and attacks.
No cookies are used for statistics or advertising.
Content from other websites
Some pages include content from other services, for example YouTube videos. When a page with such content loads, your browser connects directly to that service, which may collect data about you and set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. Author pictures may be loaded from Gravatar in the same way.
Who else sees the data
The site runs on my own server in Sweden. Apart from the services named above, which process data on my behalf or when you load their content, I do not sell, rent or share your personal data with anyone.
Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to ask what personal data I hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how it is used, and to receive a copy of it. Just email me via the contact page and I will help. If you think I have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY).
Changes
If the site changes in a way that affects your privacy, I will update this page and the date at the top.
